Lilly Hiatt's "Forever" European tour to start soon

Lilly Hiatt has always written songs that cut to the bone, but her new album Forever may be her most vulnerable work yet. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Tennessee, Hiatt broke through with 2017’s Trinity Lane, a record NPR hailed as “courageous and affecting,” earning her tours alongside John Prine, Margo Price, and Drive-By Truckers. She followed with the acclaimed Walking Proof (2020) and Lately (2021), releases that showcased her plainspoken, poetic style even as the pandemic and its aftermath left her reeling. When it came time to return to the stage, Hiatt found herself withdrawing instead—questioning who she was, where she’d been, and how to keep going in a world that felt overwhelming.

That search for clarity and self-acceptance pulses at the core of Forever. Written and recorded with her husband, Coley Hinson, just outside Nashville, the album is raw and unvarnished—part alt-rock grit, part singer-songwriter intimacy. Tracks like “Hidden Day” and “Ghost Ship” wrestle with escape, identity, and connection, while the blistering title track grounds itself in the sustaining power of love. With production support from Paul Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies), the songs carry both immediacy and dimension, opening the door for listeners to step inside Hiatt’s world. In her words, the record is “a hand to hold,” a reminder that even in the haze of self-doubt, there is beauty in slowing down, showing up, and finding what matters right in front of you.
