Dad Country star Jonny Fritz comes over for show at Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival
Mon 15 Jun 2026Jonny Fritz has spent the last 15 years building a career that somehow makes perfect sense once you stop trying to explain it. Born in Missoula, Montana and raised in Esmont, Virginia, he lives somewhere between country and western without fully belonging to either. He calls it Dad Country — a genre seemingly designed for fathers and the people concerned about them.
Beyond music, Fritz is a celebrated leatherworker known for hand-tooling leather onto everything from microwaves and coffee grinders to Telecasters. He’s made guitar straps for countless favorite bands and co-wrote “All Your Favorite Bands” with Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes.
Now based in the foothills of Los Angeles, Fritz has spent recent years raising his daughter, selling luxury homes under the title L.A.’s Only Realtor™, and serving as Music Director for Little Saint — the Sonoma County venue known for surprise performances from artists like boygenius, Phoebe Bridgers, and Rufus Wainwright.
There’s a special kind of weirdness Fritz brings to everything he does — songwriting, marathon running, leather-working, real estate. Against all odds, it works. Catch this delicate oddball the next time he rolls through town.
