The Devil Makes Three return to the Netherlands in June

07-04-2016

With a slightly punky perspective on vintage American blues, The Devil Makes Three is a breath of fresh musical air. Laced with elements of ragtime, country, folk and rockabilly, the critically praised, drummer-less trio – consisting of guitarist/frontman Pete Bernhard, stand-up bassist Lucia Turino and guitarist Cooper McBean – brings forth a genuine approach to acoustic music that is deeply steeped in rhythm.

You could describe them as a raw and raucous sounding garage-y ragtime, punkified blues, old 'n new timey without settling upon a particular era, inspired by mountain music as by Preservation Hall Jazz. Pete Bernhard says: "We bend genres pretty hard". A sound like a trip that takes one into the past, to fly in the future and can land on the dance floor. Your tight vocal harmonies with outstanding guitar and banjo playing, coming just live really in motion, then surely will leave no one standing still.

Born in a picaresque rural town The Devil Makes Three have found themselves at every major US festival from Bonnaroo to Lollapalooza and on tour with Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell and Trampled By Turtles. Europe is up next and we're stoked to have them back in the Netherlands for two shows:

26-JUNE: Rotterdam (NL) @ Pijnackerplein Bluegrass Festival
27-JUNE: Amsterdam (NL) @ Paradiso (tickets on sale 9-APR)
