Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra for Grasnapolsky and more08-01-2015
Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra are one the hardest working bands in the UK roots circuit. With thousands of touring miles under their belts, they have gained a sizeable fan base in the UK, Europe and beyond. Based in Newcastle Upon Type, they play their own brand of Western Swing, Blues, Gypsy Jazz and County, or "North Eastern Swing" as they coined it. Starting of next month three trips to the Benelux are scheduled, this will be their FIRST concerts in this region:
05-Feb-2015: Waardamme (BE) @ Cowboy Up
06-Feb-2015: Uddel (NL) @ Grasnapolsky
07-Feb-2015: Helmond (NL) @ Muziekcafe
26-Apr-2015: Vlissingen (NL) @ De Piek
27-Apr-2015: Leiden (NL) @ Q-Bus
15-May-2015: Haarlem (NL) @ Patronaat
16-May-2015: Eeklo (BE) @ N9
17-May-2015: Hoogeveen (NL) @ Bluegrass Festival
Their style is more eclectic than most, influenced by early 20th Century American music, with the addition of "razor-sharp" solos, great arrangements and original songs; their music harks back to a golden age whilst staying perfectly modern. The songs are penned by Rob Heron, a crazy fool for country music and a full time dandy-cowboy. His songs are full or character, satire, and good old fashion hollerin'.
The band, a hot six-piece, features Ben Fitzgerald (guitar), Tom Cronin (mandolin), Colin Nicholson (accordion), Rob Blazey (double bass) and Paul Archibald (drums). Their debut album, "Money Isn't Everything", caused a sensation when it was released in 2012, winning a host of rave reviews - many of them 5-star. Their 2nd album, "Talk About The Weather" saw the light in July 2014 and is also gathering some notable radio play and reviews.
