Austin, Texas roots-rock favourites Uncle Lucius have shared their new rendition of Blaze Foley’s “Election Day,” offering a heartfelt tribute to one of the city’s most beloved songwriters. The release arrives as the band prepares to return to Europe this August for a short run of tour dates.

“Driving a cab in Austin and trying to make it in music brought me a lot of Blaze stories,” says frontman Kevin Galloway. “Blaze is this big man with the biggest heart and nobody was below him.” The cover reflects Uncle Lucius’ deep connection to the Texas songwriting tradition and the characters who helped shape it.

The release follows the band’s celebrated comeback album Like It’s The Last One Left, which marked their return after a five-year hiatus. Recorded in their hometown of Austin, the album expands the group’s signature blend of Americana and roots-rock with adventurous production, string arrangements, and some of the strongest songwriting of their career. Their resurgence was fuelled in part by the renewed popularity of “Keep the Wolves Away,” which gained a new generation of fans after appearing on Yellowstone and achieving gold and platinum status.

Known for their powerful live performances, Uncle Lucius have built a devoted following through their soulful mix of Southern rock, country, and Americana. With their latest release adding another chapter to their story, the band will cross the Atlantic this August for a series of European shows, bringing their unmistakable Texas sound and hard-earned musical spirit to audiences overseas.
