Timo de Jong & Leadbeaters team up for joint album; tour together

Fri 17 Oct 2025

This fall, Groningen-born country crooner Timo de Jong and Amsterdam folk/bluegrass outfit Leadbeaters are joining forces for a special release. Their collaborative album, The Ballad Of Too Much Glitter, arrives on November 28 via Revanche Records, available on CD and all major streaming platforms. The first single, “Hammer,” is out now.

The partnership grew naturally after a chance meeting in Amsterdam. “I had a show the same evening Leadbeaters were playing at De Roode Bioscoop,” says De Jong. “They asked if I’d like to play a few songs together. It worked so well that we decided to record and tour as a unit.”

For Leadbeaters, used to spontaneous jams, the collaboration meant adapting to De Jong’s more structured songwriting. “With Timo, there’s suddenly a song structure we need to handle. That’s a fun challenge,” explains band member Thomas Olivier with a smile. “Now we actually have to rehearse.”

De Jong’s warm, crooning voice—often compared to Glen Campbell and even Frank Sinatra—sits atop 1960s-inspired songwriting with a modern touch. Having performed over 800 times and toured the UK, he’s no stranger to the stage. The Leadbeaters, meanwhile, have built a reputation for high-energy shows blending fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and upright bass into a lively stew of Americana, bluegrass, R&B, gospel, and cajun influences.
