The Deep Dark Woods over for a string of shows across the continent

For almost twenty years, The Deep Dark Woods have been carving out their own place in Canada’s folk-roots landscape. At the heart of the band is founding member Ryan Boldt, whose unmistakable voice and thoughtful songwriting have often drawn comparisons to Bob Dylan, Bert Jansch, Rick Danko and Jason Molina. Across their career, the band has developed a body of work that feels deeply connected to folk tradition while never simply looking backwards.

Alongside longtime collaborators Geoff Hilhorst, Mike Silverman and Evan Cheadle, Boldt has shaped a rich catalogue of albums and EPs that has earned widespread critical recognition and numerous award nominations. Their music carries echoes of influential acts such as The Band, Fairport Convention, Pentangle and the Grateful Dead, but The Deep Dark Woods have always brought their own distinctive character to those influences.

This autumn, the band will return to Europe for a series of shows across the continent. Their live performances combine haunting vocal harmonies, intimate storytelling and accomplished musicianship, creating an atmosphere that feels both timeless and very much alive.

The European tour comes alongside the release of Broadside Ballads, Vol. III, the latest instalment in the band's acclaimed series dedicated to traditional Irish, English and Scottish folk songs. Once again, the album draws from centuries-old musical traditions while allowing The Deep Dark Woods’ own voice and identity to shine through — a fitting continuation of a career built on bringing old songs and new ideas together.
