T-99 announces shows: "26 years of Roots 'n' Roll"
Fri 28 Mar 2025So, you've never heard of T-99? No, we're not talking about a tank, we're not talking about techno, and definitely not about testosterone-boosters. We're talking about that damn Rock'n' Roll, about Roots, Blues, Country, Rockabilly, Surf, and selling your soul to the devil's music. We're talking about real songs for real people. We're talking about Mischa den Haring, Martin de Ruiter, and Donné la Fontaine, three wild rock 'n roll pirates with big growling guitars, pounding drums, slapping double bass, and twin vocals. I'm talking about that alternative roots rock trio T-99 from Amsterdam, one of the best bands in the Netherlands. Never heard of them?!
So far, T-99 has released six albums, a 'greatest hits' compilation, and a bunch of vinyl singles. Since 1999, these guys have been touring West, North, and South Europe. Wherever they go, they play their vintage instruments with unmatched energy, great musical craftsmanship, and a hefty dose of whiskey, sorry, I meant passion.
Thus, T-99 creates a unique blend of styles that can only be described as "the sound of T-99." Can't quite wrap your head around that? Just imagine Tom Waits jamming with Los Lobos in a sweaty juke joint just outside Austin, Texas. Yeah, no kidding, three beers and a headbutt if it’s not true: T-99 howls in an American desert night under the moon while their musical heroes endlessly spin on their mental jukebox: Howlin' Wolf, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Hank Williams, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Johnny Burnette, Jimi Hendrix, Dick Dale, Johnny Cash, Link Wray, The Cramps, The Blasters, and The Paladins.
After their strong debut (Coo-Coo, 2001), T-99 released their voodoo album Strange Things Happen (2004), followed by a psychedelic CD, Cherrystone Park in 2005. With Vagabonds (2007), the guys created their wandering masterpiece. After a break (during which they played as guest musicians in various side projects), T-99 released a true "Best Of" album in 2015: The Various Sounds Of T-99. The enthusiastic response to this rekindled the rock 'n roll monster in Mischa, Martin, and Donné. The result was Bedlam! (2016), their most extreme album to date. The hilarious video accompanying their latest hit, "Motorcycle Years," is a must-watch for musical maniacs of all kinds. Since 2018, they’ve been releasing singles under the catchy title 'T-99 Single Series.' After celebrating their 20th anniversary in Paradiso with illustrious guests like Ian Siegal, The Bluesgrass Boogiemen, and Walter Broes, the trio sporadically appeared for special occasions.
So. Now you've heard of T-99. And now you're going to see them live. Because on stage, T-99 really starts to shine. There they rock, they rattle, they roll, they shake and swing. That’s where the three bastard sons of the blues come alive like the devil’s right on their heels. They set every venue, every club, every bar, every hole, and every city on fire just like Jerry Lee once did with his piano. And once you've seen them live, you’ll know it forever. You'll be converted, a fan for life. And you'll tell your clueless friends, "So, you've never heard of T-99?" And after all: go see them this fall:
