Swans and Jessica Moss are in the Netherlands this week: Leiden and Nijmegen

Experimental rock titans Swans return with their seventeenth studio album, Birthing, out via Mute / Young God Records. Described by founder Michael Gira as his “final foray into the all-consuming sound worlds” that have defined the band for decades, Birthing captures Swans’ signature intensity — a sprawling collection born from a year of live evolution. Recorded in Berlin with the current touring lineup, the album expands on their monumental sonic landscapes, balancing raw physicality with transcendent depth

Following the album’s release, Swans have embarked on a European and UK, with support from Jessica Moss. The run includes two Dutch dates this month — 14 November at Nobel in Leiden and 15 November at Doornroosje in Nijmegen — before continuing across Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. The lineup features Gira alongside long-time collaborators Kristof Hahn, Dana Schechter, Larry Mullins, Phil Puleo, Christopher Pravdica, and Norman Westberg. For fans, this tour marks the end of an era: Swans’ final large-scale “big sound” performances before Gira reimagines the project in a new, more pared-down form.
