Susto Stringband take their new album "Volume Two" across Europe

Fri 07 Aug 2026

Susto Stringband, the latest chapter in Justin Osborne’s long-running musical journey, will bring their unique blend of Appalachian tradition and heartfelt Americana to Europe this August for a short run of shows across Sweden, Denmark, and the UK.

Formed after Osborne relocated to Asheville, North Carolina, in 2022, Susto Stringband grew from an unexpected connection at a local open mic night with vocalist Clint Roberts, clawhammer banjoist Helena Rose, and upright bassist Joey Brown. Together, they have transformed the emotional songwriting of SUSTO into a rich acoustic soundscape built around banjo, fiddle, upright bass, and Appalachian harmonies.

The band’s debut release, Susto Stringband: Volume 1, reimagines fan favourites including “Friends, Lovers, Ex Lovers: Whatever” and “Acid Boys,” while introducing new songs exploring love, family, loss, and the search for meaning. Recorded at Mitch Easter’s Fidelitorium Recordings in North Carolina, the album brings Osborne’s introspective songwriting full circle, reconnecting with the gospel, folk, and bluegrass influences of his South Carolina upbringing.

Following the release of Susto Stringband: Volume 2, which continues to reinterpret SUSTO’s catalogue through a traditional string-band lens, the group will head overseas for their European tour. Dates include appearances at Stockholm Roots, Rootsy Summer Festival, Tønder Festival, and The Long Road Festival, offering audiences the chance to experience one of Americana’s most distinctive voices in a fresh and deeply rooted setting.
