Spectral Geezers will support Garrett T. Capps on his European tour

Spectral Geezers are Torin Metz and Justin Boyd from San Antonio, Texas. Torin is a gifted musician and gardener, while Justin is an art professor and field recorder. The two first collaborated in the Garrett T. Capps and NASA Country project—Torin’s psych riffs and Justin’s modular buzz brought the space to NASA Country.

The Spectral Geezers project emerged from the idea of creating music for Torin’s soon-to-be-born son. Torin began crafting melodic sketches, which Justin then processed through his modular maze. As the songs took shape, so did Ottis (Torin’s son), transforming the tunes from in utero echoes to crib-side lullabies.

Music for Ottis begins with the sound of the first sonogram and ends with the sound of the ocean. In between are moments of evolving, wandering melodies that drift in and out—like a dreamer caught between waking and sleeping. Sticking strictly to guitar and modular synths, the duo has created a surprisingly soft and cozy soundscape. So come on in, find a spot on the floor, and curl up with the Geezers for a while.
