Spanish dates for The Harlem Gospel Travelers are coming up

The Harlem Gospel Travelers continue to redefine contemporary gospel with their acclaimed third album, Rhapsody. Following the success of Look Up! (2021), the trio—Ifedayo Gatling, Dennis Bailey, and George Marage—delve into the rich legacy of gospel funk, drawing inspiration from the groundbreaking sounds that emerged in the 1960s and 1970s. Guided by longtime friend and mentor Eli “Paperboy” Reed, they reimagined hidden gems from Numero Group’s celebrated Good God! A Gospel Funk Hymnal, blending classic soul, funk, and even hip-hop influences into a vibrant, modern gospel sound.

The Harlem Gospel Travelers first came together when Gatling and Marage met while studying under Reed. Since the release of their debut album He’s On Time in 2019, the group has built a reputation for electrifying performances and fearless musical exploration, earning praise from artists such as Elton John and appearances at major festivals across the United States. With Bailey joining the group ahead of Look Up!, the trio found a renewed creative chemistry that continues to shape their distinctive sound.

Refusing to be confined by traditional genre boundaries, The Harlem Gospel Travelers embrace gospel as a message rather than a musical formula. Rhapsody celebrates innovation, honoring the pioneers who expanded the possibilities of gospel music while creating a record that feels fresh, joyful, and deeply relevant today. Their artistic vision was recognized with a historic Grammy nomination for Best Roots Gospel Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards, making them the first openly queer and nonbinary artists ever nominated in the category.
