Soft Palms will bring their immersive dream-pop to the Netherlands
Fri 11 Sep 2026Soft Palms will bring their immersive dream-pop to the Netherlands this September, following the release of their latest album, IN ECHO. The Long Beach duo of Julia Kugel (The Coathangers) and Scott Montoya (The Growlers) have built a sound that feels both intimate and expansive, blending lo-fi warmth, analog textures, and hypnotic melodies into songs that are as meditative as they are cinematic. Their upcoming Dutch dates offer a chance to experience that carefully crafted atmosphere in a live setting.
Written, recorded, produced, and mixed entirely in the pair's home studio, Centre of Mental Arts (COMA), IN ECHO takes the sound introduced on Soft Palms' 2020 debut to a deeper and more introspective place. Kugel's ethereal vocals float through Montoya's richly layered arrangements, drawing on ambient pop, shoegaze, psychedelia, and vintage recording techniques. Beneath the album's dreamy surface, however, lies a more reflective and at times uneasy mood, shaped by the world around them and giving the record an emotional weight that contrasts with its graceful, analog glow.
That independent spirit is central to everything Soft Palms create. As highlighted in recent features on the duo, Kugel and Montoya have spent years developing a completely self-reliant approach to making music, from recording their own albums to building a creative community around their Long Beach studio. That sense of freedom and craftsmanship runs throughout IN ECHO, an album that feels less like a collection of songs than a fully formed world of its own. This September, Dutch audiences will have the opportunity to step inside that world when Soft Palms return to the Netherlands:
