Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival welcomes Hogslop String Band

Blending a deep respect for tradition with a fearless sense of irreverence is something few bands can achieve, yet Hogslop String Band does exactly that. Drawing from old-time string band music while channeling the untamed spirit of rock ’n’ roll, they have earned a reputation as something close to punk purists.

What may sound like an unlikely mix comes together effortlessly thanks to the talents of singer and fiddler Kevin Martin, guitarist, harmonica player, and vocalist Gabriel Kelley, banjo player and singer Daniel Binkley, and bassist and entertainer Pickle. Even the band’s name reflects their eccentric character, but it’s on stage where their strange and seemingly contradictory identity truly comes to life.
