Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival for Cat Clyde

Canadian indie-folk artist Cat Clyde comes over to Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival on July 5th. She recently released her fourth studio album, Mud Blood Bone, set for release on March 13 via Concord Records. Produced by Drew Vandenberg and featuring a co-write with Courtney Marie Andrews, the album blends rockabilly grit with emotional folk-rock intensity. Drawing inspiration from artists like Sierra Ferrell, Nick Shoulders, Angel Olsen, and Big Thief, the record reflects a deeply personal journey through despair, transformation, discovery, and celebration.

Alongside the announcement, Clyde has released the album’s lead single, “Another Time,” offering listeners a first glimpse into the new project. The song explores themes of intimacy, memory, and personal evolution, inspired by the ever-changing nature of life and human connection. Reflecting on the track, Clyde describes it as a meditation on the bittersweet beauty of fleeting moments and the emotional complexity of constantly evolving into new versions of ourselves. The release follows her recent collaboration “Cowboy Dreams” with Boy Golden, who will join her on tour this spring.

Much of Mud Blood Bone was written while traveling between festivals and remote locations, including Clyde’s 1973 Boler trailer in Ontario and a narrow boat in England. Deeply connected to her Indigenous Métis roots and inspired by nature’s cycles, Clyde approached the songwriting process with raw honesty and openness. Her lifelong relationship with music — from listening to her grandfather’s fiddle through the floorboards as a child to discovering Blues legends like Lead Belly and Robert Johnson — continues to shape her distinctive sound, resulting in songs that feel spontaneous, intimate, and emotionally fearless.
