Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra announces extra European tour dates

Thu 03 Apr 2025

Rob Heron, lead singer and front man of Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra, is not only a prolific songwriter, but also a rare kind of artist in today ́s music world. His appeal cuts through several age levels and through all areas of musical enjoyment. Rob has surrounded himself with an all-star group of fine musicians; Tom Cronin on baritone guitar, mandolin, and harmonica, Ben Powling on saxophone and clarinet, Adam Richards on acoustic and electric bass, and Paul Archibald on drums.

With their sixth album, Feet First, the Newcastle-based band have packed in soul, doo-wop, rockabilly, blues and country into a collection of songs, many of whose titles point to some harrowing times. All written by Heron, they mostly deal with breakups and breakdowns, yet the overall feel is far from despondent, such is the lightness of touch in the lyrics and the musicality of the five-piece band. Here is Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra on an album that beautifully spans the remarkable scope of their unusual talent and versatility. Many of the songs and arrangements on this new album do not fit any of the generally recognised definitions of popular music, instead they are new and special.

On Feet First, Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra have managed to catch their live energy in a bottle – the pressure and warmth of recording in an analogue environment has produced a fun – and thoroughly clever party album, that’s not just a multi-influence meaty step forward – but a great introduction to the band for newcomers too. Talking about their live energy, today a new string of summer shows is announced:
