Melissa Carper's Europe/UK tour kicks off this week!

Melissa Carper’s album Borned In Ya is out via Mae Music/Thirty Tigers, and it’s turning heads with its vintage flair and heartfelt songwriting. Inspired by bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley’s line—“I don’t think you can get this sound unless it’s borned in ya”—Carper delivers a collection that fuses old-school country, jazz, blues, and soul with unmatched authenticity.

Recorded at Nashville’s Bomb Shelter studio with producers Dennis Crouch and Andrija Tokic, the album expands on Carper’s acclaimed earlier work (Ramblin’ Soul, Daddy’s Country Gold) while introducing gospel choruses, R&B grooves, and even horns. Highlights include the funky title track, the retro R&B-tinged Evil Eva, and a soulful take on Cole Porter’s Everytime We Say Goodbye.

Dubbed Hilbillie Holiday by collaborator Chris Scruggs, Carper’s effortless vocal style and sharp storytelling have earned praise for transcending genre and time. With a cast of top-tier musicians and a fresh yet nostalgic sound, Borned In Ya cements Carper’s place as one of roots music’s most compelling voices.
