Kaia Kater tour rescheduled again, now for November 2021
12-01-2021Few are more conscious in their journey through Appalachian histories and the Canadian musical landscape than Kaia Kater. Born in Montreal, Kaia has lived Winnipeg, Wakefield and, most recently, West Virginia, she now resides in Toronto. Her old-time banjo-picking skills, deft arrangements, and songwriting abilities have landed her in the spotlight in North America and the Europe, garnering critical acclaim from outlets such as Rolling Stone, CBC Music and The Roots Music Report. Often praised for her capacity to sound new and old at once, Kaia anchors her music the space where tradition and innovation intersect.
A creative force in her own right, Kaia Kater rises to bold new heights of imagination and creative expression on her third album Grenades. With abundant poise and poetry, Kater composes an odyssey about personal identity, memory, and discovery in the wake of her father’s journey as a young political refugee. She draws upon her diverse musical influences in Quebec, the Caribbean, and Appalachia, and her bicultural experience as a second generation Grenadian-Canadian, to envision a new path for herself and her songs. The album is out through Smithsonian Folkways Recordings.
Kaia Kater had an European tour set for March of this year, also venturing out in to new territory for her, Germany. Now this has been rescheduled to November, dates which we're excited to share with you today:
