Hezekiah Procter's Chicago World’s Fair of 1933 experiences brought to 2025

Fri 15 Aug 2025

Canadian songwriter Li’l Andy has teamed up with some of the best old-time music virtuosos to create The Complete Recordings of Hezekiah Procter—a dazzling blend of concert, performance art, and musical time travel that critics are calling “a triumph” and “startling invention.”

Described as a live “medicine show act,” the project sees Andy take on the persona of Hezekiah Procter, a fictional 1920s country music legend. The act combines harmony vocals, fiddles, banjos, a sousaphone, and vaudeville theatrics to recreate the sounds and spectacle of a bygone era.

Originally conceived as a songwriting experiment, Andy penned tunes in Procter’s voice, envisioning a life filled with the same genius and tragedy as country greats like Hank Williams and Robert Johnson. The new sequel album reveals the fictional singer’s collaboration with non-Western musicians at the Chicago World’s Fair of 1933. The album brings together the same musicians as the first Hezekiah release, along with the engineering of Ben Caissie, who specializes in antique and obsolete recording technology.
