DOWN BY THE RIVER #2, completes line-up including Nikki Lane and David Corley
08-03-2016The line-up of Down By The River is complete. The roots and Americana festival in Venlo adds five names today including David Corley, Nikki Lane and Mandolin Orange. The festival is located in and around Poppodium Grenswerk on pentecost - Sunday May 15th. On this second edition the festival expands to ten bands on four stages. Other newly names are Joana Serrat and Lea Kliphuis. Previously announced names include The Wood Brothers and Meschiya Lake & The Little Big Horns.
David Corley is a special case. He debuted last year at the age of 53 with a beautiful roots album. Corley returns to the Netherlands after surviving a heart attack while on stage in Groningen last September. A few weeks prior to this he performed at Venlo's Zomerparkfeest. David Corley will open the festival in a special way. Details to follow. Nikki Lane is the new bad girl in country, who sets foot on Dutch soil for the first time. Her second album, produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach is full of hits and ended in many best of list, including the one from Volkskrant.
Down By The River is named after a song of Neil Young. The festival is located right on the banks of the Maas, the river that flows through Venlo for centuries. Down By The River focuses on renewing roots and americana music. Last year the first edition took place, with five bands on two stages within Poppodium Grenswerk.
