Denver's Munly & The Lupercalians confirm European tour for November
Wed 01 Jul 2026Munly & The Lupercalians, the dark and surreal musical world created by Denver songwriter Jay Munly, will return to Europe this November for a series of dates bringing their immersive vision of Lupercalia to the stage:
Originally formed in 2006–2007 as a side project of Munly, the mastermind behind the pioneering gothic “Denver Sound” and a key figure in Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Munly & The Lupercalians has grown into a fully realized artistic universe. The project combines music, literature, mythology, and storytelling, all centered around the fictional town of Lupercalia — an imagined community of strange families, clans, deities, and outcasts.
On stage, the band transforms into the inhabitants of Lupercalia, with members appearing in costumes representing their mysterious roles within Munly’s ever-expanding mythology. Musically, Munly & The Lupercalians blend folk traditions with gothic atmosphere, doom-laden intensity, and theatrical performance. Featuring multiple percussionists and Munly’s unmistakable voice and banjo-driven songwriting, their live shows create an experience that feels closer to entering another world than attending a conventional concert.
