David Ramirez takes "All the Not So Gentle Reminders" to Europe

Thu 28 Aug 2025

David Ramirez has returned to his roots—not just musically, but personally. After years of making records with career ambitions in mind, the Austin-based singer-songwriter created his new album, All the Not So Gentle Reminders, purely for the love of music. “This time, it was all about the joy of making it,” he says. “About having fun with it.”

Following a season of rest after the end of a long relationship, Ramirez stepped away from writing to process life on his own terms. When he began again, he sought not to capture heartbreak, but something more hopeful and alive. Written during a two-week retreat in rural Alabama and recorded just outside Austin, the 12-track album leans into expansive, dreamy soundscapes, with long instrumental passages that let the music itself speak.

Songs like “Maybe It Was All a Dream” and “Deja Voodoo” blur the lines between memory and imagination, asking whether the past is something we remember—or something we invent. Co-produced with Christopher Boosahda and featuring longtime collaborators, the album is lush, honest, and Ramirez’s most sonically adventurous to date—a heartfelt return to making music for no one but himself. And now he's bringing the album to live with a European tour:
