After years of chasing external success, Austin singer-songwriter David Ramirez has returned to making music purely for the love of it. His new album, All the Not So Gentle Reminders, is a lush, dreamlike collection that captures a renewed sense of freedom and creativity. Written in isolation at a small-town Alabama retreat and recorded near Austin, the 12-track project leans into expansive musical storytelling, blending long instrumental passages with Ramirez’s signature lyricism.
Processing personal loss and rediscovering hope, Ramirez embraced a collaborative spirit, calling on longtime bandmates and friends for the sessions. Songs like “Maybe It Was All a Dream” and “Deja Voodoo” explore memory, love, and the thin line between reality and imagination. All the Not So Gentle Reminders marks Ramirez’s most ambitious work yet—a heartfelt reminder of the power of music to heal and endure.
Born in 1989 in Olympia, Washington, Noah Gundersen grew up in a large, musical, and deeply religious family. Homeschooled and self-taught on piano and guitar, he began performing locally at 16, later forming the band Courage with his sister Abby. Gundersen briefly explored post-hardcore with Beneath Oceans before focusing on a solo career.
Early EPs like Brand New World and Saints & Liars established him as a rising voice in indie folk, leading to the acclaimed Family EP, whose songs appeared in shows like Sons of Anarchy and The Vampire Diaries. His debut album Ledges (2014) and follow-up Carry the Ghost (2015) explored themes of love, loss, and identity. Gundersen later reunited with friends to form Young in the City, while continuing solo work with the rock-leaning White Noise (2017) and the introspective Lover (2019), recorded during a period of personal change, therapy, and self-discovery. Embracing age and wisdom, Gundersen continues evolving his sound, bridging the worlds of indie folk and alternative music.
