Daddy Long Legs returns to the Netherlands after five years
Thu 13 Mar 2025Daddy Long Legs is the coolest, most authentically groovy band you’ve never heard of. Or maybe you’re a longtime follower of their original home, the indie label Norton Records, and the trio has been on your radar since their debut nearly a decade ago. Even better, maybe you’ve had the immense pleasure of boogie-ing to their music at a live performance over the past few years.
Now, New York City’s most diabolical Rhythm & Blues street gang, released their eagerly anticipated fourth studio album Street Sermons. The album is a testament to triumph over adversity. Written & recorded in the height of the pandemic against a backdrop of political tension, riots in the streets and an uncertain future. In dark times Daddy Long Legs shine their light- Street Sermons is an album of the times, for the times by a band of the people.
The group fled the madness of the city to record Street Sermons at Old Soul Studios in Catskill, NY with Oakley Munson (Black Lips/Nude Party) producing. Cutting 12 killer tracks , the trio morphed into a quartet with Oakley stepping in on keyboards and piano. The LP also features guest appearances from John Sebastian (Lovin’ Spoonful) and Wreckless Eric of “Whole Wide World” fame. Street Sermons kind of starts as a punk album and changes to a blues album at the halfway point. This record incorporates quite a few different genres all at once and uses a lot of unconventional instruments to a point where it’s hard to imagine the tracks without them.
After five years Daddy Long Legs will be back in the Netherlands for festivals and one club show:
04/07: Rotterdam, NL - Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival
05/07: Andijk, NL - Dijkpop - Afternoon
05/07: Utrecht, NL - dBs - Evening
