Charlie Parr confirms European tour for April/May 2026
Thu 02 Oct 2025Charlie Parr grew up on the edge of Austin, Minnesota, where cornfields and soybeans stretched out behind his backyard and bored kids vanished into gravel roads and creek beds. The town—famous for its meatpacking plant, UFO sightings, and makeshift party spots like “Martian Land”—wasn’t easy on eccentric dreamers, but it gave Parr a mythology he still carries into his songs.
“I was bored out of my mind until I got that little car,” he recalls. “Then I felt free. It’s pretty much the same today. I get cleaned up, get in the car, and drive. That’s my spot.”
Now based in Duluth, Parr has long been known for his raw steel-guitar playing and restless, solitary presence onstage. His new record, Little Sun, recorded with producer Tucker Martine in Portland, moves between rollicking stomp and hushed mysticism, a natural extension of the folk, blues, and odd corners of music he once dug out of the Austin Public Library.
Parr insists biography isn’t the point—“I don’t know how any of that explains the music”—but the shape of his life lingers in his songs: myth, memory, and a sense of constant departure. This spring he’ll be on the road again, including a European tour in April and May 2026, carrying those fragments of Austin’s fields and shadows out into the wider world.
