Cerys Hafana's European tour has stops in Belgium and the Netherlands this month

Thu 30 Oct 2025

Cerys Hafana is a Welsh triple harpist and composer who mangles, mutates and transforms traditional music into something strikingly new. Blurring the lines between past and present, they explore the creative possibilities of traditional and archival material, weaving it together with their own original compositions. Since releasing their debut album Cwmwlin, Cerys has continued to expand the sonic and emotional landscape of folk music. Their second album, Edyf—named one of The Guardian’s Top Ten Folk Albums of 2022 and shortlisted for the 2023 Welsh Music Prize—cemented their reputation as one of Wales’s most distinctive contemporary voices. In 2024, they released two contrasting EPs: The Bitter, a haunting collection of English and Scottish folk songs, and Crwydro, a contemplative series of solo piano pieces marking two years since Edyf.

On stage, Cerys’s performances are both intimate and otherworldly, drawing audiences into a soundworld that feels ancient and experimental all at once. They have appeared at major festivals including Festival Interceltique de Lorient, Green Man, WOMAD, End of the Road, Reeperbahn, and Trans Musicales, and have supported artists such as Charlie Cunningham, Adwaith, Andrew Wasylyk and Yann Tiersen. In early 2024, they toured with the acclaimed classical ensemble Sinfonia Cymru, further expanding their collaborative horizons. Cerys’s unique artistry has been showcased in live sessions across BBC Radio 3, Radio 4, Radio Wales, and Radio 6 Music—each performance a reminder of their ability to reimagine tradition with fearless creativity.

This month Cerys Hafana has two shows across the Benelux:

01/11: Dranouter, BE - Dranouter Muziekcentrum
15/11: Amsterdam, NL - Tolhuistuin Zonzij
