Brooklyn trio MakeWar confirm Dutch festival show for July
Thu 27 Feb 2025MakeWar, formed out of frontman Jose Prieto’s solo project Sad And French, has always channeled personal struggles into their music. The Brooklyn trio—Prieto, bassist Edwin Santacruz, and drummer Alejandro Serritiello—initially used their songs as a form of catharsis, tackling heartbreak, despair, and self-destruction. However, their latest album, A Paradoxical Theory Of Change, marks a shift. Instead of fighting emotions, Prieto embraces and processes them, reflecting his personal journey through therapy.
Recorded in an intense two-week session at Sonic Ranch in Texas, the album blends raw energy with deep introspection. Tracks like “Magic Worlds,” “Underachiever,” and “This Fucking Year” explore themes of self-acceptance, resilience, and personal growth. Though MakeWar no longer writes music purely as therapy, their songs remain as authentic and emotionally charged as ever.
This summer MakeWar will be over in the Netherlands for a festival show:
