BaBa ZuLa return with new album "XXX" and three Dutch shows

Three decades into their extraordinary journey, Istanbul-based psychedelic collective BaBa ZuLa return with XXX, a new album that finds the band continuing to push the boundaries of Turkish psychedelia. Blending traditional Anatolian sounds with dub, electronics, improvisation and hypnotic grooves, the record explores themes of nature, memory, urban life and resistance while maintaining the band’s restless and experimental spirit. Released September 25, XXX is another unpredictable chapter from a group that has never been interested in repeating itself.

Often associated with the Turkish psychedelic resurgence alongside artists such as Gaye Su Akyol, Altın Gün and Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek, BaBa ZuLa have always ventured further into experimentation, performance and unconventional song forms. Their sound has evolved into a singular mix of psychedelic rock, Anatolian folk, dub and electronic music, shaped by Istanbul and enriched over the years through collaborations with artists including Mad Professor, Jaki Liebezeit of Can, members of Faust and Warren Ellis. On XXX, the band turns its attention to Mother Nature, combining hypnotic instrumentals and transformed saz textures with songs addressing environmental pressure, social change and resistance.

BaBa ZuLa will bring their distinctive live sound to the Netherlands for three upcoming shows. With their constantly evolving approach to Turkish psychedelia, the dates offer a chance to experience a band that, thirty years into its career, remains as exploratory and unpredictable as ever.
