Andrew Combs starts European January/February tour tomorrow
08-01-2019Texas-born Andrew Combs is a singer-songwriter who turns commonplace events into meaningful song-pictures. Previously likened to everyone from Leonard Cohen to Harry Nilsson to Nick Drake, with his latest album, Canyons of My Mind Combs has established a strong, very personal style.
Canyons Of My Mind, continues a maturation with the introduction of existential ruminations, more ominous orchestral moments and the slightest taming of his twang in exchange for a higher register. Regardless of the narratives or the instrumental backdrop, Combs evolves subtly, with a grace that demonstrates his personal awareness and a musical sphere that offers variation without sacrificing his base.
Out now is the EP 5 Covers and A Song. Driven by lyrical content, nostalgia and the desire to cover some of his favorite songs, Combs started recording 5 Covers and A Song with the intention of show-casing one of his favorite artists, Loudon Wainwright III. Also included is covers of The Strokes, Radiohead, Blake Mills, Lucinda Williams and one his own songs. 5 Covers and A Song is a snapshot of the influences that helped shape Andrew Combs as a songwriter as well as a display of how he has honed his craft.
Andrew Combs tours Europe in January and February taking Charlie Whitten as support.
