Alberta Cross releases "Sinking Ships" this Friday; London, Amsterdam, Berlin shows coming up

27-03-2023

UK-based band Alberta Cross, led by Swedish-born lead singer and guitarist Petter Ericson Stakee, have just shared their brand new single Morning Drum, the latest track to be taken from their forthcoming album Sinking Ships - which will be out THIS FRIDAY March 31st!

The follow up to last month's Between You And Me, Morning Drum is a memorable indie-rock gem that features Petter Ericson Stakee's lush, passionate vocals which are packed with raw emotion that instantly won me over to their storytelling. There's somewhat of a dark touch in the song that I really like, inspired by a long, dark winter day in Berlin. Apart from those gorgeous vocals, I am particularly fond of the intricate guitar riffs, echoing harmonies, steady drums, bright synths and overall warm, reflective atmosphere.

Speaking about the song, Petter Ericson Stakee comments, "‘Morning Drum’ came out of a long dark grey winter when I lived in Berlin. 6 months with a huge grey lid on top of you. It’s tough not to be affected by it. I love Berlin so much but the contrast between the cold and very grey winter and the lovely lush summer is immense. It was also inspired by me touring the eastern parts of Europe for the first time, seeing the Baltic countries for the first time was mind opening to me. Such incredible places but sometimes shadowed by its dark underlying history."

Starting next week Alberta Cross will be doing shows:

04/04: London, UK - Omeara
07/04: Alkmaar, NL - Blue Heart Festival
08/04: Hengelo, NL - Heartland Festival
08/04: Amsterdam, NL - Paradiso
09/05: Berlin, DE - Baketown
