The Urban Voodoo Machine is playing Helldorado Festival Eindhoven on Saturday

15-11-2017

London’s bourbon-soaked gypsy blues, bop ‘n’ stroll band The Urban Voodoo Machine are back! This Saturday the band playing Helldorado Festival in Eindhoven in advance of a special year coming up. In 2018, the Urban Voodoo Machine will celebrate their 15th anniversary and will be available for festivals all year long.

Whether they take on Eastern European folk music with a punk attitude or stick the fun in funeral jazz it’s all splendid when this rowdy assembly gets in gypsy gear. Their wide-ranging instrumentation evokes resonating visions of mariachi The Pogues with The Clash cabaret on a bourbon bash of The Dead Brothers and The Blues Brothers. Revelry guaranteed.

Watch The Urban Voodoo Machine's video for Rusty Water & Coffin Nails, a song for "When life goes to shit you just gotta have a drink and laugh" The track is taken from the band's 2016's Hellbound Hymns, an album described by Classic Rock as"poking the eye of tragedy and tweaking the nipples of adversity."

"It's a 'tear in your beer' kinda number," says mainman Paul-Ronney Angel. "When life goes to shit you just gotta have a drink and a laugh about it! I actually wrote this song in a hotel room in the infamous Blue Collar Hotel in Holland so it only made sense that we went back there and shot the video for it."
