The Beat does two Liberation Day festivals and one clubshow

Formed in the working class suburbs of industrial Birmingham in England in 1978 The Beat arose at a time of high unemployment and social upheaval. From the outset the band offered messages of hope and peace with an insight into sociopolitical topics would later alongside The Specials see them heralded as forerunners of the whole 2-Tone Ska movement.

Still going strong and still bringing their songs such as "Mirror In A Bathroom", "Hands Off.. She's Mine" with such enthusiasm it's a true joy to see. Looking forward to have them over this week for three shows:

3VOOR12 includes The Beat in their Ten Tips for Liberation Day, writing (in Dutch): "Ook een van de bands die perfect past binnen het plaatje, zonnetje op de bol, drankje in de hand en vrolijke muziek op de voorgrond. The Beat weet als geen ander hoe je een feestje bouwt, want dat doet deze ska-band al sinds 1987. De Britten uit Birmingham begonnen in die tijd een band vanwege de hoge werkeloosheid, maar dat betekent zeker niet dat ze trieste muziek spelen. Voor oppeppende reggae en ska moet je dit jaar in Almere (17:50 uur) en Den Haag (20:45 uur) zijn."
