Mandolin Orange with "Tides Of A Teardrop" over in the Netherlands and Belgium this weekend

06-05-2019

Country folk and bluegrass are ingredients in a tasty blend by the Mandolin Orange duo. Americana traditions respectfully lifted the songs are original and the mood is intimate melancholy and untrammelled. The vocal harmonies are sweet and precise when Andrew Marlin (mandolin, guitar, vocal) and Emily Frantz (violin, guitar, vocal) get to work. Andrew Marlin writes the songs and the duo’s latest album Tides of a Teardrop delivers lyrics of loss and sorrow in a well-turned unembellished musical setting.

Their music radiates a mysterious warmth - it feels like whispered secrets one hand cupped to your ear. The North Carolina duo have built a steady and growing fanbase with this kind of intimacy and on Tides of A Teardrop is more potent than ever. By all accounts it is the duo’s fullest richest and most personal effort. You can hear the air between them - the taut space of shared understanding as palpable as a magnetic field that makes their music sound like two halves of an endlessly completing thought.

This month Mandolin Orange are in the Netherlands and Belgium for a handful of shows with Michaela Anne opening:
10/05: Groningen, NL - De Oosterpoort
11/05: Nijmegen, NL - Doornroosje
12/05: Amsterdam, NL - Paradiso
13/05: Gent, BE - DOK
