Hillstomp and Pierced Arrows in Benelux this week!

15-05-2011

Portland, Oregan junkbox blues duo Hillstomp is infamous for digging through the dumps and forgotten backwoods of American music, recycling tradional elements into a refreshing and distinctive brand of do-it-yourself hill country blues stomp. North Mississippi trance blues, a bit of Appalachia, and a clash of punkabilly come clanging and tumbling from assorted buckets, cans and BBQ lids, all drenched in rambunctious slide guitar.

Their new album was just released. It's called "Darker the Night". This is what is written about it: "One man. Scraggly hair. An old guitar that barely stays in tune. Goggles on his head. Another man behind a drum set made of brake drums, 5 gallon buckets, cracked cymbals and a washboard hanging from his neck. See them separately and you’re forming your “I can’t give you any money” excuse. See them together and you’re looking for the hat to drop your hard earned money into as your ass tries to shakes itself free of you." This week they can be found in the Benelux. Check the tourdates here! Also in the Benelux this week are Pierced Arrows. To call Fred Cole a "living legend" is like saying: "Yes, and water is wet". Together with his wife Toody Cole they played Dead Moon for about 20 years. After Dead Moon husband and wide started Pierced Arrows together with drummer Kelly Halliburton. On Wednesday the 18th of May the band will do one exclusive Belgian show in de Muziekodroom in Hasselt to promote their record "Descending Shadow"s on Vice.
