Cicada Rhythm brings "Stuck In My Head" series over to mainland Europe

21-11-2017

Not so long ago, Athens, Georgia duo Cicada Rhythm embarked on a rather unique project.

Following on from the release of their 2015 self titled debut, the alt-folk two-piece initiated a series of covers entitled ‘Stuck In My Head’. We’re previewing a new cut from the series, a fascinating take on Billie Holiday’s classic ‘God Bless The Child’. Cicada Rhythm’s take on the track relaxes an already placid song to the point of tranquillity; Andrea DeMarcus‘ beautiful vocal work exploring the nuances of enunciation and soul, whilst the musical backing of her fluent bass work and Dave Kirslis‘ softly voiced, lilting guitar work provides a quietly persuasive, subtly rich soundscape.

The ‘Stuck In My Head’ project is still in it’s infancy – this is only the second of the series, the first being a charming take on Bob Dylan’s ‘Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright’ – but already it’s proving itself to be an intriguing and rewarding project.

Alongside this new project Cicada Rhythmn is touring the UK supporting Jim White at the very moment. After the UK dates the band will be coming over to mainland Europe for some shows in the Netherlands and Germany:
